100th Targa Florio arrives to the Alfa Romeo Museum in Arese. The famous Italian brand, which has celebrated its sporting history on the Targa roads and that this year is the main partner of the 100th edition, presented schedule and plans of the event that will honor the oldest race of the world from May 5 to 8 in Sicily.
Presentation was held thanks to RIAR, the Alfa Romeo Historic Register, and hosted three-time Targa Florio winner Nino Vaccarella, Automobile Club Palermo president Angelo Pizzuto and the Museum director Lorenzo Arsizio.
During the meeting RIAR director Stefano D’Amico recalled the Alfa Romeo participations to Targa Florio, scoring 10 wins. Vaccarella was an Alfa Romeo works driver, winning for it twice in 1971 and 1975, pairing with Toine Hezemans and Arturo Merzario respectively.
The Targa Florio 100^ branded Champion V Cronograph was also presented, born in co-operation between Automobile Club Palermo and Eberhard & Co. Suisse, with its president Eberhard Barbara Monti and its CEO Mario Peserico also attending the conference.
For this special edition many crews are expected to take part in the four different events of the competition, from Italian Rally Championship and Italian Historic Rally Championship races to Targa Florio Classica (with its Ferrari Tribute too) and the Historic Speed, the dynamic parade of the legendary drivers and prototypes real protagonist up to 1977
