The chronometric sections on the 35 km of the re-enactment of the Favorita’s Circuit, are the last practices, won by Giovanni Moceri and Valeria Dicembre, while Matteo Ferro and Marlene Ghiglietti won the last challenge in the Ferrari class; after the spectacular arrival claimed by the crowd in Piazza Verdi and the awarding ceremony at Teatro Massimo, Targa Florio Classica, the “Cursa” 2019 is officially over. A cultural patrimony and myth to keep alive and share with the future generations. An effort that the Automobile Club Palermo and Automobile Club Italia, ACI Sport and ACI Storico do every year, rewarded by the growth in the sport contents and in international and national participation.
The 2019 edition of Targa Florio Classica show a small version of the celebration held in the occasion of the centenary of the event. It was an event that gained consensus among the participants to the Classic Regularity race, valid for the third appointment of the Italian Grandi Eventi Championship, and among the many lovers of the Ferrari brand, who don’t missed the Tribute to Targa Florio appointment and also among the participant to Targa Florio Legend dedicated to younger vehicles.
It was an intense three day plus one race. 630 km in the beauty of Sicilian landscape, between history and myth, with its UNESCO world heritage sites. A successful Grande Evento. Great performance for the Sicilian drivers: Mario Passanante, Giovanni Moceri and Nino Margiotta, the three from Campobello who gained the absolute podium in the regularity race. A victory for team MAFRA, with Himara Bottini, arrived in the very last time-check, after a 630 km track between Palermo, Agrigento and Madonie, with many chronometric and mean practices. A challenge that engaged also Giovanni Moceri, flanked by his wife Valeria Dicembre, Scuderia Targa Florio, in a competition closed only by the year in which the cars were made: 1937 Fiat 508 C of Passanante; 1939 Fiat 508 C of Moceri, gave the victory to Passanante and Bottini. Nino Margiotta, together with Valentina La Chiana, ended in the third position, in a satisfying constant growth of its 1947 Volvo PV 444 for the Volvo Club, team on the top of the dedicated standings, thanks to the fourth position of Massimo Zanasi and Barbara Bertini on a 1958 Volvo Amazon P2004. While Scuderia Targa Florio Lombardy drivers, Tiberio Cavalleri and Cristina Meini are in the fifth position with the 1932 Fiat 508 Spider. Best placement among the foreign crews for the Japanese Yokota Masahito and Oki Etsuko, in the thirteenth position, with a 1937 Lancia Aprilia.
Among the eighty Ferrari drivers, in the end the final victory of the Ferrari Tribute to Targa Florio 2019 went to Marco Serventi and Eduardo Andrade, with a Ferrari California, Rossocorsa, who completed the race ahead of Franco Serventi and Daniela Maccini, in the second position on a Ferrari 488 Speciale A. Matteo Ferro and Marlene Ghiglietti gained the third position with a Ferrari 488 Spider. Aldo Castello and Maria Teresa Pascal won Targa Florio Legend 2019 with a Ferrari GTS Turbo, ending right ahead of Vicenzo and Gandolfo Miceli on a Fiat X 1/9 F.S.
